HARRISVILLE, MI (WNEM) -

Consumers Energy said a transformer failed around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and knocked out power to 1,700 customers in Harrisville in Alcona County, north of Tawas.

The cause is not known yet and Consumers Energy is bringing in a mobile substation for use until repairs are made.

Crews are working around the clock until repairs are finished. People in that area will be without power until approximately 11 p.m. tonight.
