SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Drive away from the flu this year by visiting one of Covenant HealthCare Visiting Nurse Special Services drive-through flu vaccine clinics.

The clinics are offered Wed., Sept. 28 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and again Wed., Oct. 5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  at 500 S. Hamilton St. in Saginaw.

Officials said drivers should enter the Covenant Visiting Nurse Association parking lot from the corner of Niagara and VanBuren Street. Cars will exit from Niagara Street.

Nurses will come to the driver's side window to take care of paperwork and administer the vaccine.

"The goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to get their vaccine and stay healthy this winter," said Jill Lenhard, VNSS manager.

More than 200,000 people are hospitalized each year due to flu complications, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Each year, about 36,000 people die from flu complications, according to CDC statistics.

To fight the flu, the CDC recommends the yearly flu vaccine.

VNSS offers the flu vaccine for $27. Pneumonia vaccines are $35. VNSS can bill traditional Medicare Part B and HealthPlus.

Please bring your card to the clinic.
