Members of Mid Michigan's Jewish community begin the celebration of Rosh Hashanah this evening, the Jewish New Year.

The holiday is marked by special prayers for a happy and healthy new year.

At dinner, festive food is served including apples and honey for a sweet new year.

The year about to begin is 57-72 on the Jewish calendar.
