BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A Notre Dame fan who survived a heart attack during last month's game at Michigan says his well-wishers have included Wolverines' coach Brady Hoke.
Leo Staudacher tells The Bay City Times he got a hand-written note from Hoke on a greeting card bearing an image of Michigan's football helmet. The note says the University of Michigan "family" was proud to care for Staudacher.
The school has said Staudacher's heart stopped during the second quarter of the Sept. 10 game at Michigan Stadium. The 69-year-old Bay City man survived thanks in part to one bystander who performed CPR and others who called for a medical team that used an automated electric defibrillator on site.
Staudacher watched the end of Michigan's thrilling 35-31 win on TV from an intensive care bed.
