ROSEBUSH, MI (AP) -

Authorities say a freight train hit a SUV in mid-Michigan, injuring two 20-year-olds.

The 2006 GMC Envoy was struck Monday night at a crossing in Isabella County near Rosebush.

The sheriff's department says the driver, Heather Lee Foster, failed to yield at the railroad grade crossing that's located on Denver Road, just west of Mission Road.

Foster was airlifted to a hospital in Flint, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.  The passenger from Mount Pleasant was treated and released from a hospital.

"The investigation revealed the driver was not paying attention to the upcoming rail crossings and didn't see or hear the approaching train," a news release read.  "The locomotive pushed the vehicle north along the tracks for almost 2/10 of a mile before coming to a stop."

The Great Lakes Central Railroad train of Owosso included two locomotives pulling seven cargo cars.
