BAD AXE, Mich. (AP) - Rep. Kurt Damrow has been removed from the executive committee and membership of the Huron County Republican Party.
The executive committee's vote Tuesday won't affect the Port Austin Republican's ability to run for re-election to the Michigan House in 2012.
Damrow said he'll run again and the resolution by a "small group" won't affect how he does his job because he works for all the people in his district.
The resolution criticized Damrow for late campaign finance reports, "failure to take timely responsibility" for a "no proof of insurance" ticket and other issues. It notes that Damrow presented allegations to the state police related to Huron County matters and investigators determined nothing rose to the level of criminal wrongdoing.
As a state lawmaker, Damrow was automatically an executive committee member.
