BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan woman and her son were hurt after a large branch fell from an oak tree and pinned them to the ground.
The Bay City Times reports that a man called 911 Wednesday afternoon after seeing the woman and boy beneath the branch.
They were taken to a hospital after fire crews lifted the branch.
Bay City Interim Fire Chief Karey Prieur said the woman and the 3- to 4-year-old boy were conscious.
Prieur said a number of children from a nearby school were in the area just before the branch fell.
Heavy winds have been sweeping across Michigan over the past few days. Prieur said fire crews responded to several calls Wednesday of downed branches and utility wires.
