FLINT, MI (WNEM) -
So, you want to be a truck driver? Mott Community College in Flint is offering free truck driver training next week.
From big rigs to freighters to tankers, more than 3 million Americans today make a living as truck drivers.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for truck drivers tend to be favorable. Truck driving can provide a perfect opportunity for an individual who needs to find a quick job, particularly in a sluggish economy.
For the second time this year, Mott Community College is offering an 18-week training program for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a truck driver, starting on Monday, Oct. 24.
MCC has partnered with the U.S. Truck Driver Training School, providing participants with a unique opportunity to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).
The training is available at no cost to qualified applicants. The class will be held at MCC's Southern Lakes Branch Center, located at 2100 W. Thompson Road in Fenton. To qualify, students must be 21 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
