FLUSHING, Mich. (AP) - U.S. Army Pfc. Jessica Carpenter didn't let serving her country in Afghanistan get in the way of planning a wedding back home.
She credits patience and the power of the Internet.
The Flint Journal reports that Carpenter and her fiance Sgt. Eric Rickards will wed Monday in Genesee County after making most of the arrangements online from separate bases. They flew into Flint's Bishop Airport this week to make final preparations.
The 2008 Kearsley High School graduate says the wedding dress she ordered online didn't fit but found a replacement in an emergency shopping trip.
Carpenter says the wedding - in a park if weather permits or a church if not - wasn't easy to plan but they've made it work.
