FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A 40-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture has been unveiled in Flint to honor the 110th birthday of late philanthropist Ruth Mott.
The work by Chicago artist Richard Hunt is outdoors at Applewood. That's the estate where Mott lived with her husband Charles Stewart Mott. A public ceremony was held Wednesday.
Hunt tells the Flint Journal that the Ruth Mott Foundation wanted to show the public that there's "something different taking place" at the estate.
The newspaper says the sculpture was transported by truck, lifted into place by a crane and then secured by a bolt in concrete.
