Contractors working at Wal-Mart injured in electrical explosion

SANDUSKY, MI (WNEM) -

WNEM TV5 has learned from authorities that two contractors were injured while working at a Wal-Mart store in Sanilac County on Monday morning.

It happened around 11:20 a.m. at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 655 West Sanilac Road in Sandusky, MI. The Sandusky Police Department told TV5 two men were working on one of the store's electrical panels when some type of explosion or "flashover" occurred.

The explosion happened at the rear of the store, near the tire and lube area.

Police said the contractors are being treated for burns at McKenzie Medical Center in Sandusky.

No further information was released. TV5 was initially tipped off to the incident by two Facebook fans.

The Wal-Mart is operating normally and is open for business.
