PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a suspected drunken driver who had three children in his vehicle was arrested in Pontiac after sideswiping a parked sheriff's department patrol car.
The Oakland County sheriff's department said in a statement that the 43-year-old Pontiac man was driving about 1:50 a.m. Saturday when he hit the car. The deputy's vehicle was parked in a turn lane with its overhead emergency lights activated while assisting with a traffic stop.
No injuries were reported. The department turned over the children to their mother and a report was filed with child protective services.
The department said a breath test showed the man had a blood-alcohol level of nearly 0.35%, more than four times Michigan's legal limit of 0.08%.
The driver was jailed.
