SW Michigan home explodes, killing 2, injuring 4

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Two people have been killed and four others injured in a house explosion in southwestern Michigan.

Police in Berrien County's Benton Township say the blast happened about 11:40 p.m. Saturday. The site is east of Benton Harbor.

Lt. Delmar Lange says when emergency crews arrived, they found four injured people outside the burning house and were told two others were inside.

Lange didn't release the names of those killed, but WSBT-TV in South Bend, Ind., identifies them as 27-year-old Josh Hoffman and 48-year-old Cindy Turner.

Lange says a 7-year-old boy and women ages 26 and 36 were treated for smoke inhalation and released. He says 59-year-old Norma Hoffman was airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Police say there were oxygen tanks inside the home but the blast's cause is undetermined.
