MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a man police wanted to question following an armed robbery jumped into a river in suburban Detroit and apparently drowned.
The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens and radio station WWJ report officers tried to stop the man early Wednesday when he jumped into the Clinton River in Mount Clemens. Authorities say the man was pulled from the water about 30 minutes later. His name wasn't immediately released.
Police in nearby Clinton Township had responded to the armed robbery at a drug store, saw the man walking and tried to stop him. Detective Capt. Richard Maierle says police don't believe he was involved in the robbery but he may have gotten scared.
