Jurors deciding whether to hand down a death sentence for a man convicted of being the Phoenix area's Baseline Killer heard from attorneys on both sides for the last time Monday.
Prosecutors argued that 47-year-old Mark Goudeau deserves the death penalty for killing nine people in an especially cruel way, saying that he has no respect for laws or humanity.
Defense attorneys told jurors that Goudeau should get a sentence of life in prison instead, arguing that he will be a model inmate and that a difficult childhood turned him into the man he is today.
Goudeau talked to jurors himself two weeks ago. He told them that he is no monster and asking them to follow their hearts when they decide his sentence.
