ITHACA, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in mid-Michigan say a gasoline leak that apparently came from an underground storage tank at a gas station is causing continued problems.
The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant reports Wednesday that some people in the area of the Beacon and Bridge station in Ithaca are reporting vapors coming into homes or businesses, and two families were forced to leave their homes.
A public works crew October detected gasoline in a sewer manhole about 40 miles north of Lansing and called authorities.
Beacon and Bridge Co. says a damaged safety valve was fixed and more testing is planned. A decision to install a vapor extraction system also was made by the company.
Soil and ground water samples have been taken in the area of the gas station.
