Former Flint Southwestern and Michigan State basketball star Charlie Bell was detained to a holding area Thursday after failing to pass a sobriety test ahead of a court appearance.

Published reports say Bell blew a reported .09 during the pre-scheduled alcohol assessment.

Bell, 32, was scheduled to appear in a Genesee County courtroom in connection to an Oct. 21 drunken driving charge in Flint Township.

Bell violated his probation by having a blood-alcohol level of .01 over the legal limit.

He appeared back in court early Friday morning and received an 18-month probation sentence from Genesee District Judge David Goggins. Bell is also to undergo drug and alcohol testing.

Bell is currently playing for the Golden State Warriors.
