CHARLEVOIX, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is asking for comments about its proposal to restore lake sturgeon in the state's waters.
The department released a draft Tuesday of its strategy for rehabilitating sturgeon and is inviting comments from the public through Jan. 23.
The comments can be emailed to the department or mailed to its office in Charlevoix in the northern Lower Peninsula.
Sturgeon can grow to 8 feet, weigh over 200 pounds and live 150 years. They once were abundant in the Great Lakes region.
