Pair arrested in connection to theft at country club

ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Isabella County Sheriff's Department has arrested two individuals for breaking into the Mt. Pleasant Country Club and stealing over $5,100 worth of items. 

The thefts happened sometime between 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 and 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13.

The sheriff's department says Matthew James Henning, a 20-year-old from Blanchard, has been charged with one count of breaking and entering with intent to commit a larceny and one count of malicious destruction of a building. He was booked and released on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond.

Also arrested was David Gary Appleton, a 22-year-old from Mt. Pleasant, who has been charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a larceny.  His bond was set at $20,000.

Some of the stolen items include golf clubs and equipment, a flat screen television, golf apparel, three bottles of liquor and $500 in cash. 

It was determined that three of the Ping drivers that were stolen had been sold on eBay. 

Many of the stolen items have been recovered by the Isabella County Sheriff's Department. 

The incident remains under investigation.
