Winning $1M lotto ticket sold at area Speedway

According to the Michigan Lottery, a Lottery club with five members, who wish to remain anonymous, won the third $1,000,000 Raffle of Riches drawing which took place on Dec. 28.

The group all went to Lansing's Lottery office to claim their prize. No further information on the group was released.

The winning ticket was sold by Speedway No. 5503 at 5211 N. US Hwy. 23 in Oscoda.

The Michigan Lottery said more than 95 cents of every dollar spent on lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers.

According to the Lottery, for 2011 the lotto contributed more than $727 million to schools, and since the lotto's inception in 1972, more than $16 billion has gone to education in Michigan.
