DJ service accused of scamming wedding couples

Updated:
SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

After dating for three years, Craig and Misty Blanchard decided to tie the knot last August.

"We spent countless hours picking out what songs we wanted for what dances," Misty Blanchard said.

The Bay City couple says they'll always have magical memories of that very special day, even though it was marred by a small catastrophe.

Their DJ never showed up.

"I believe wholeheartedly it was a scam," says Craig Blanchard. Blanchard says they met the two DJs at a bridal show at the Dow Events Center.

The DJs, who she told us went by the names Bob and Josh, said they owned a company called Premiere Sound.

"Like a week later I got a call from Josh saying that we won our DJ package for half off," Misty Blanchard says.

Misty Blanchard says they paid $500 for their entertainment services. But then on their wedding day, she says Premiere Sound was a no show.

TV5 have confirmed that the Saginaw Township Police Department is investigating at least six cases where a newlywed couple was possibly bilked out of money for their entertainment. But we have learned there may be many more victims than that. That's why we took our tough questions to the address listed on the business license.

"Bob is my son, but he doesn't live here anymore," said a woman who answered the door when we visited the Hemlock home. She did not want to be identified.

We asked her, "Your son, does he own Premiere Sound?"

"He did, but he doesn't anymore," she said.

We informed the woman about the accusations made against her son and the other man known as Josh.

"I've heard that has happened with Josh and that is why Bob does not work with him anymore," she explained.

The Blanchards, however, say both men are responsible. It's why they have filed a civil suit.

"I felt like all the planning we put into it was for nothing," said Blanchard.
