First grader brings knife to school over missing pencil

BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

School officials in Bay City said a steak knife was found in the backpack of a first-grade student.

It happened Wednesday morning at Linsday Elementary School, 607 LaSalle Street in Bay City.

Bay City Public Schools Superintendent Douglas Newcombe said the student brought the knife to school after a disagreement over a missing pencil.

The young girl has been removed from class pending a formal investigation.

School officials said the incident is not bullying-related. No other details were released.
