FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The Flint Police Department's detective bureau is investigating after a man's body was found at a home on Flint's north side.

Police made the discovery at the home at 318 E. Marengo Avenue on Sunday afternoon.

Police said they found the body of 78-year-old Roosevelt Dent deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities have labeled Dent's death a homicide.

"Mr. Dent was a lovable person, he loved everyone," said neighbor Twyla Stockman, she continued "I'm devastated; I can't believe that anyone would hurt Mr. Dent. All he had was love."

Neighbors also said Mr. Dent was a kind, gentle neighbor always ready to lend a helping hand, but his passion was keeping kids on the straight and narrow.

Ms. Stockman also said, "He was always on the kids, trying to guide the kids in the right direction. Telling them the good things to do; truly he was a great man,"

Few other details have been released and detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-5245 or the Flint Police Department at 810-237-6800.
