Student art celebrates Saginaw's diversity

SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Saginaw Arts & Enrichment Commission, in partnership with the Saginaw Public Schools, presents the Celebrating Saginaw's Cultures: Building Unity through Diversity Student Art Exhibit award winners, as part of Art @ the Andersen.

The exhibit will run through March 8, 2012 at the Andersen Enrichment Center, 120 Ezra Rust Dr. in Saginaw, and will be open for viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The multi-cultural art exhibition showcases the talent of Saginaw Public School students, grades three through 12.

Categories include drawing, painting, 3D, printing/design and jewelry/body adornment.

  • Rebekah Colon, SASA Middle School: Best of Middle School – SASA
  • Teariea Phillips, Arthur Hill High School: Best of High School
  • Sydney Veverka, SASA High School: Best of High School – SASA
  • Bianca Angulano, SASA High School: MiGente Community Award
  • Bria Erby, SASA High School: NAACP Community Award
  • Shermain Cooper, Ruben Daniels Middle School: NAACP Community Award
  • Jyrilee Granderson, Heavenrich Elementary School: NAACP Community Award
  • Blair Donohue, SASA Middle School: Japanese Cultural Center Community Award
  • Ariel Hendrick, SASA High School: Eric Schantz Community Award
  • Drew Olivarez, Arthur Hill High School: Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission Community Award
