UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. (AP) - The Ryder Center at Saginaw Valley State University will rock with Latin dance music as the school attempts to set a new world record for a Zumba class.
Wednesday evening's event seeks to eclipse the current record of 2,012 dancers in a single Zumba exercise class.
Students, faculty, staff and the public are asked to join in as part of National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day. Zumba is a high-octane dance-aerobics workout.
Up to 60 students participate in each of the Ryder Center's four regular Zumba classes. The school plans to submit documentation to Guinness World Records if enough people participate.
Saginaw Valley State is in University Center, north of Saginaw.
