BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Everyone's got a favorite flavor and hundreds of people packed Krzysiak's restaurant in Bay City to fill-up this Fat Tuesday with paczkis.

"They make the best," one customer said.

"Today's my birthday so I always take them in for my birthday," said another customer.

The owner and founder, Don Krzysiak, said every year, the restaurant typically sells about 800 dozen paczskis on Fat Tuesday.

"A lot of my recipes are from my family and from the old country. It's tradition and original," Krzysiak said.

One of the secret ingredients of the tasty treats is Ruth Downing.

She's been cooking up these paczkis at Krzysiak's for more than 20 years.

Ruth and her co-workers typically spend two days, around the clock, getting ready for Fat Tuesday.

"It's a long job and people love it and it's a tradition. I don't mind doing it," Downing said.

Downing said she's been serving up these paczkis for so long, she doesn't even bother measuring out ingredients anymore.

"I could probably do it with my eyes closed," Downing said.

As much as people love their paczkis on Fat Tuesday, those that are in the thick of it at Krzysiak's Restaurant love it even more.

"It's almost like Christmas, kids getting presents at Christmas. Well, I get all excited about paczki day!" exclaimed Don Krzysiak with a laugh.
