FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Mott Community College has been given an opportunity to use a loaned out Chevy Volt, an electric car produced by General Motors, for two weeks.

The Chevy Volt will be utilized in hands-on learning activities for students enrolled in MCC's automotive technology programs from Wednesday, Feb. 22 to Wednesday, March 7.

The Volt will be delivered to the automotive lab in the Mott Community College Regional Technology Center, where a 45-minute demonstration will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The Volt has two sources of energy. One is an electric source from a battery that allows the vehicle to drive gas-free for an EPA-estimated 35 miles. The other option is an onboard gas generator that produces electricity so a driver can go up to a total of an additional 375 miles on a full tank of gas.

For more information about the Chevy Volt visit to Mott Community College, contact Matt Roda, Coordinator/Instructor of Automotive Technology, at 810-232-7458.
