#23 F, Freshman, Kentucky Wildcats:

(RNN) - What does a 6'3" guard trapped in a 6'10" power forward's body look like? A National Player of the Year candidate and the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Davis had a 7-inch growth spurt during his junior year of high school that turned him from a little-known baller into a recruit sought after by the premier programs. He became the rare player who could beat defenders off the dribble, score in the post, hit his free throws and grab nearly 10 rebounds per game.

And his 7'4" wingspan – the length of nearly 10 basketballs – helped him become the best single-season shot blocker in Kentucky's history … with 12 games left in the season.

He plays like someone who did not receive national attention his whole life. Davis is active on both ends of the court, showed the desire to improve his game as the season went on and looks like he genuinely enjoys the game.

On a team as talented as the Wildcats, he does not need to be the primary scorer. But Davis has shown he can do that, too.

On Feb. 25, he led his team to an 83-74 victory against another tournament-bound team, Vanderbilt. He finished the game with 28 points on 10-of-11 shooting (8-of-9 free throws), 11 boards, five blocks, two steals and only one turnover.

There is a strong chance this tournament will be his last games at Kentucky. Don't be surprised if he adds championship No. 8 to the trophy case before he goes.
