SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Family and friends said their final goodbyes Wednesday to a local Army Ranger who died last week of cardiac arrest.

The funeral for Staff Sgt. Ryan Coyer was held at the Hopevale Church, located at the corner of Center and Tittabawassee in Saginaw Township.

The Michigan Patriot Guard lined up outside the funeral home.

The 26-year-old Army Ranger, who was raised in Saginaw, died a week ago of cardiac arrest at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.

His body was escorted by the Patriot Guard from Detroit to Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center in Saginaw Township, for visitation earlier in the week.

He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 2004.

Coyer's cremated remains will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
