EL CAJON, Calif. (AP) - Police in San Diego County say they are investigating the beating death of a 32-year-old Iraqi-American woman as a possible hate crime but are also looking at other scenarios.
El Cajon (kuh-HOHN) Police Chief James Redman confirmed Monday that evidence includes two threatening notes, but he says the possibility of a hate crime is just one aspect of the investigation.
Redman says the investigation of Shaima Alawadi's death is still in the early stages and police have not drawn any conclusions.
Alawadi was taken off life support on Saturday, three days after a teenage daughter found her unconscious at home.
