LINDEN, Mich. (AP) - A Canadian court has fined a Michigan hunter $1,250 for leaving a bear carcass to rot.
A published report says Christopher Beckman of Linden was penalized by the Ontario Court of Justice.
The station says Beckman shot the black bear in 2010. It says authorities also barred him from hunting black bear in Ontario for one year.
There is no phone listing for Beckman in Linden, and he couldn't be reached for comment.
Ministry of Natural Resources conservation and Canada Border Services Agency officers found Beckman with the bear's hide.
Officers later found the black bear's body in the woods.
The court fined him $1,000 for letting the meat spoil and $250 for not attaching a game seal to the animal after shooting it.
