Winds cause power outage in parts of Genesee County

SWARTZ CREEK, MI (WNEM) -

Consumers Energy officials say they are working on a power outage affecting customers in Genesee County's Swartz Creek.

They say a tree, blown over by the wind, took down some power lines Saturday at about 6 p.m. Two utility poles were broken as a result of the falling lines.

It has taken crews an extended amount of time to fix the problem because the wires are not located on the road, but rather behind homes.

This has prevented crews from getting equipment to them and has forced them to work manually.

Consumers Energy says only 38 customers are still without power.

They expect to have them all restored by midnight Sunday.
