MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -
National "No-Kill" Day is a drive for animal shelters across the nation to find alternatives to euthanasia, and the Midland Humane Society is getting in on the action.
In an attempt to stop euthanasia of healthy and adoptable pets, Michigan PetFund Alliance (www.michiganpetfund.org) is asking Michigan Shelters to join in supporting National "No-Kill" Day.
When the Humane Society of Midland County took over operations of the Midland shelter in 2011, they closed the euthanasia room and efforts were focused on adoptions. The Humane Society of Midland County said it fully supports this drive. In a show of support and to make the community an "adopt a pet" community HSoMC is offering half-off all adoption fees on Monday, June 11.
All the pets are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. The shelter said their normal prices are "at cost" already, making this deal on adoption fees outstanding.
The adoption fees will be as follows:
- Puppy adoption fee $75
- Dog adoption fee $62.50
- Kitten adoption fee $30
- Cat adoption fee $15
The shelter is located at 4371 E. Ashman, Midland, MI 48642 and their phone number is 989-835-1877.
The shelter will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, with animals ready to go into their permanent, forever homes.
Spanky Franks will also be at the shelter selling gourmet hot dogs, brats and beverages. The shelter said everyone is welcome to come out, adopt a new friend and have lunch. A portion of Spanky Franks' sales on this day will be donated back to the Humane Society of Midland County.
