FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Luke M. Powers Catholic High School will break ground Sunday at the site of its new campus, 1505 West Court St.

The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m.

The Rev. Earl Boyea, Bishop of the Diocese of Lansing, will preside. Flint Mayor Dayne Walling, school administration and other local and community leaders will also be present.

Students, families, alumni, benefactors and friends of Powers Catholic are welcomed to attend.

Powers Catholic opened in the fall of 1970 after the closing of seven local Catholic high schools: St. Agnes, Holy Redeemer, St. John Vianney, St. Mary, St. Matthew and St. Michael in Flint; and St. Mary in Mt. Morris.

The school and its 550 students will move into the new building in the fall of 2013.
