MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

WNEM TV5 has learned that a fire has been contained at a Midland apartment complex.

The blaze broke out around 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Charter Square Senior Housing Complex on Jefferson Avenue, off Wackerly Drive in Midland.

At one point, flames were shooting out a second floor area of one of the buildings. The fire broke out in a common area of the building. Two people were guided out of the area. Midland city firefighters quickly responded to the fire and knocked down the flames. Crews went through quite a few oxygen bottles in the short time it took them to control the fire. A fire official says no one was seriously hurt.

The entire second floor of that building was evacuated. Investigators were looking into the cause of the fire. There's no damage estimate at this time.
