SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A 23-year-old Saginaw man was arraigned Wednesday morning on several charges in connection with a May 30 homicide in Saginaw Township.

Quintel A. West was arraigned in a Saginaw County courtroom via video conference on 23 felony charges, including first-degree murder.

West is accused of fatally shooting Michael Kuhlman, 36, inside Kuhlman's home at 2555 Luella, northeast of Hemmeter and Weiss roads. Another man was also shot and hospitalized.

The other charges West faces include assault with intent to murder, home invasion, nine counts of armed robbery and 11 firearm offenses.

According to police, there were eight people inside the home when multiple masked suspects entered and fired shots.

Saginaw County Prosecutor Michael D. Thomas told WNEM TV5 that investigators have been working around the clock on the case.

"The case is not done and over with by any stretch," he said. "There were other people involved in this."

Thomas believes that robbery was the motive behind the violence and that West "had a prior relationship or knowledge" of some of the occupants who were inside the home.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab assisted in the investigation.

West remains jailed without bond.
