GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Genesee county has given owners a 10 day amnesty period for owners to register dogs and it's set to expire Friday.

More than 800 residents are taking advantage of Genesee county's dog license amnesty program. It allows dog owners to license their canine with animal control at a reduced price.

If dog owners don't get a license now, the price will double with a delinquent fee. And if owners don't pay that fee, they will be given a citation that gives them 14 days to appear before a judge.
