Timeline: The search for Carnel Chamberlain

Update, 12:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23:

In the matter of missing four year old Carnell Chamberlain the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police believe his disappearance is suspicious. Investigators indicate they have a person of interest in mind as their investigation moves forward from this point.

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police would like to thank each and every person who assisted with the search efforts to find Carnell on June 21 and 22.

Future search efforts will be coordinated through the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police along with assistance from the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department and volunteers.

If members of the community choose to continue searching on their own, please contact the Tribal Police at (989) 775-4700 should you come across items that are suspicious in nature. The Saginaw Chippewa Police along with the FBI are continuing the investigation.

Update, 6 p.m. Friday, June 22:

The tribal police department of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian tribe of Michigan continues the intensive search for missing 4 year old boy, Carnell Chamberlain.

Carnell chamberlain was reported missing around 10 pm Thursday, June 21, 2012. He is described as a four year old Native American male, approximately 3 feet tall with short dark hair and green eyes. He was wearing a dark colored angry birds T-shirt, dark blue or green shorts with green trim.

The intensive highly organized search has been ongoing throughout the day with the assistance and cooperation of over 150 volunteers who intensively searched a one mile radius of the missing child's last known whereabouts.

At this time, the midland search and rescue unit, tribal police and fire departments will continue the search in a pared down fashion until dark in order to focus on other areas as well. The search will resume in the morning.

Update, 7:20 a.m. Friday, June 22:

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal community continues its search which much welcome sunshine and fair weather. All agencies remain engaged. The Tribal community has turned-out in force as volunteers to aid in the search of missing boy.

Update, 5:30 a.m. Friday, June 22:

As of 5:30 AM on June 22nd, 2012 Mid-Michigan Working Dogs is working in conjunction with over 12 other agencies on a uniform and systematic search of the Isabella Indian Reservation and surrounding areas. We are assembling a group of over 100 volunteers to begin canvassing the area. Volunteers can assemble at Tribal Operations located at 7070 East Broadway Mt Pleasant, Mich.

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department continues the intensive search for missing 4 year old boy, Carnell Chamberlain.

The intensive, highly organized search continues with the assistance and cooperation of multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agencies and fire departments from several counties including conservation specialists from the Little Traverse Bay Band from the Upper Peninsula. The search team also includes well over one hundred citizen volunteers from the local area.

Carnell Chamberlain was reported missing around 10 pm Thursday evening. He is described as a four year old Native American male, approximately 3 feet tall with short dark hair and green eyes. He was wearing a dark colored angry birds T-shirt, dark blue or green shorts with green trim.

Frank Cloutier, public relations described the search as highly engaged with tremendous support from search professionals as well as volunteers.

"Presently the search area is being considered off limits so as not to hinder the progress of the search teams" said Cloutier.

Anyone with information or anyone who may have seen the missing boy is being asked to contact the Tribal Police Department at (989) 775-4700.
