A Wisconsin brewery is getting attention in Michigan for putting the city of Port Huron's name on its beer.
The Times Herald of Port Huron reports (http://bwne.ws/NCfNPS) brewmaster Tanner Brethorst has never been to Port Huron, but that didn't stop him from using the city's name for his brewing company in Wisconsin Dells.
The family-owned Port Huron Brewing Company is named after Brethorst's grandfather's steam traction engine, which was manufactured by the Port Huron Engine & Thresher Co.
With many different names in the family, Brethorst settled on Port Huron for the company. An image of the engine also is on the company's label.
The Port Huron Brewing Company supplies restaurants, bars and resorts in the Wisconsin Dells area. Brethorst hopes to distribute to Port Huron in the future.
