The family of 1-year-old Gemma Wolfgram has set up a trust to help pay for funeral costs. The family said they have no insurance to cover the cost of laying the girl to rest after she was found in a pond not far from the family's house on Tuesday.
Contributions can be made to the trust at any Citizen's Bank in the area. Anyone seeking to donate money can do so by writing "Jason Wolfgram, for the benefit of Gemma Wolfgram," on the envelope.
Autopsy results are due back on the girl in the next few days. WNEM.com will update the story with new information as we receive it.
A 1-year-old child has died after being discovered unresponsive in a pond when she wandered from her home in Saginaw County.
Saginaw County Sheriff's deputies and emergency crews were called to an address on Roosevelt Road in Swan Creek Township after the girl was discovered in the large pond by her mother.
Deputies said the child wandered away from her home and she was found in a pond behind her house.
Authorities said she was transported to Covenant hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to determine exactly how the child died. Authorities said they wanted to make certain her death was due to drowning.
