DAVISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNEM) -
A three-car crash in Davison Township resulted in injuries to two drivers and the death of a third who was eight-months pregnant.
Genesee County Sheriff's deputies, along with Davison Township police officers, paramedics and firefighters responded to the crash scene in the 8000 block of Lapeer Road around 12:20 p.m. on Friday.
Responding personnel discovered that one of the drivers, 34-year-old Amanda Rouse, of Grand Blanc, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Davison Township Police Chief Rick Freeman said that adding to this tragedy was the fact that Rouse was eight-months pregnant and her unborn child didn't survive the crash.
State Police and the Davison Area Crash Reconstruction Team investigated the scene where their preliminary report indicates that Rouse was stopped westbound on Lapeer in her 2004 Chevrolet Impala, waiting to turn southbound on Charter Oaks Drive.
Investigators said her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by a 65-year-old Flint man. Rouse's vehicle then went into the path of an eastbound 2005 Buick Rendezvous driven by a 63-year-old Grand Blanc man, where she was struck broadside.
The other two unidentified drivers were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said weather and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash. They also said all the drivers involved were wearing seatbelts.
