CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old boy died and several family members were injured when the SUV in which they were riding pulled into the path of a utility truck in Mid-Michigan.

The Isabella County sheriff's department says Benjamin Marks of Shepherd died following the Sunday evening crash in Chippewa Township, about 60 miles north of Lansing.

The department reports those injured in the Mercury Mountaineer driven by a 46-year-old woman included three other children and a 36-year-old woman.

The department says the SUV was stopped for a stop sign before pulling into the path of the Consumers Energy truck driven by a 49-year-old man.

The department says Benjamin was airlifted to a hospital in Saginaw, where he was pronounced dead. Others injured were taken to a Mount Pleasant hospital.
