I-475 in Genesee County
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -
Due to the storms that raged through Mid-Michigan, there are impassable stretches along I-475 in Genesee County.
Northbound and southbound I-475 is closed near Bristol Road (south of I-69) due to a power outage, which resulted in damage to a pump station and flooding across the highway.
Some drivers stopped to wait for the water to recede. Others turned around to get out of the area. There were no reports of injuries in the area after the storms.
MDOT electricians are on site and Consumers Power has been notified regarding the power outage. A generator is being used to power the pump station and to remove the water from the freeway.
Once the water has receded, MDOT will reopen the closed section of the highway.
There also have been some reports of isolated street flooding in other parts of the state.
