MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
A substation transformer failure that occurred at about 8 p.m. Wednesday interrupted electric service to approximately 5,500 Consumers Energy customers in northern Midland and southern Gladwin counties.
Customers located in the cities of Gladwin, Beaverton, Edenville, Hope, Sanford and Midland in Gladwin and Midland counties had the power restored just after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Crews originally were not planning to have power back on until 8 p.m.
The cause of the Levely Substation transformer failure is not known at this time.
A mobile substation was used while repairs were made to the damaged transformer.
