BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -
Last night all eyes were on the sky in Bay City as the "Bay City Fireworks Festival" went out with a bang. The show on Saturday consisted of a 50-minute firework display where 50,000 shells were set to music as they hit the sky.
"I think it went off fantastic and it was just a spectacular show," said Bay City Fireworks Festival President Doug Clark.
This year's celebration marked 50 years for the festival. Many fireworks enthusiasts who came out said it was the best year yet.
Pyrotechnicians used some new fireworks this year including shells never seen before in Michigan.
"I'm sure some of the people noticed some of these odd shaped shells and some of the different displays. The technology in shell manufacturing has changed so much that there's a wider spectrum of colors that they can put in the shells," said Clark.
