SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
WNEM TV5 has confirmed with Saginaw County 911 Central Dispatch that three people involved in a shooting have been taken to an area hospital.
Saginaw County 911 Dispatch Director Tom McIntyre said the shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. in the area of Fourth and Federal in the City of Saginaw.
Authorities report that all of the injuries were non-life-threatening and that the people involved may have been transported to Covenant.
"We heard the shooting," said a witness to the incident. "The bullets was in the ground. Three guys were walking the street here and they took off running but we didn't' know they was hit."
Last year, the city of Saginaw had a total of 12 homicides. As of Friday, there have been 13 homicides in the city.
Violent crime is also up 12 percent in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same period last year.
