Schools cancel summer programs ahead of Tuesday's heat

MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

--The Summer Program held at Coleman Elementary School in Coleman, Midland County will be closed for Tuesday, July 17, 2012.

Their program normally runs Monday thru Friday; they will only be closed on Tuesday, July 17 due to the heat, and resume on Weds., July 18.

--Flint Community Schools have canceled its summer programs for Tuesday, July 17, due to the excessive heat in the buildings, which do not have air conditioning. Outside temperatures are expected to reach 99 degrees on Tuesday. 

However, the district's Rainbow Learning program, which is located an building with air conditioning, will be open tomorrow, as scheduled.

The regular summer program schedule will resume Wednesday, unless notified otherwise.

--21st Century Summer Programs hosted in the following local schools districts will not be operating on Tuesday, July 17 due to extreme temperatures:

     --Beecher 21st Century Summer Program - Middle School (ONLY afternoon closed, AM program will be in operation)

     --Bendle 21st Century Summer Program - All buildings

     --Carman-Ainsworth 21st Century Summer Program - C-A Middle School

     --Mount Morris 21st Century Summer Program - Jr. High and High School

     --Westwood Heights 21st Century Summer Program -- McMonagle Elementary
