Fan giveaway for seniors as temps soar

GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Seniors in Genesee County can beat the heat by getting a free fan Tuesday.

The giveaway happens on what is expected to be one of the hottest days in 2012.

County Sheriff Robert Pickell says the Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Program and Adult Protective and Assessment Services, a nonprofit group set up to support the elder abuse program, will be hosting the giveaway.

It takes place at 10 a.m. until noon in the front lawn of the Sheriff's Department, 1002 S. Saginaw St.

In all, about 200 fans will be provided. Vouchers will also be made available.

Participants must be 60 or older and be able to provide a valid ID.
