SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
Saginaw police were busy with what was a violent weekend -- there were shootings in three different locations which left three people dead.
The most recent shooting happened on the 2800 block of Perkins Street around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police told TV5 the 31-year-old victim showed up at St Mary's hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He is in serious, but stable condition.
Officers were also called to the scene of another shooting that took place on Cherry Street around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police say Russell Turner, 20, was shot in the head, and later died at the hospital.
However, the rash of weekend shootings occurred at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday when two young men were shot to death while sitting in a vehicle on the city's north side.
Frederick Harvey, 19, and 20-year-old Marcus Buckley, were both shot several times while parked on North Second Street.
Police are still looking for suspects in all four shootings. Anyone with information is asked to contact Saginaw police.
Saginaw has been plagued by dozens of shootings over the past six months, with 16 homicides so far in 2012. Last year, Saginaw had a total of 12 homicides.
Last month, the Saginaw Police Department responded to criticism they're not doing enough to keep city streets safe following several high-profile shootings that wounded or killed children.
In a news release, police released an outline of some of the things they have been doing in an attempt to address the violence. First on the release is that the department has asked for and received assistance from the DEA, ATF, FBI and Michigan State Police.
The MSP has assigned a crime analyst to help police dig deeper into the shooting cases, in an effort to identify suspects involved. Police detectives, the analyst and a parole agent from the Michigan Department of Corrections have been meeting to exchange information on the investigations.
Police also said patrol officers and MSP troopers are out directly patrolling specifically targeted areas and individuals identified as "people or areas of concern." Police said the patrols have led to several arrests and as many as eleven guns being taken off city streets.
Authorities said the weapons have been taken to the MSP crime lab for analysis to see if they match any of the city's recent shootings.
Police said their efforts will continue until all the cases have been solved and an end comes to the violence. Authorities do ask that if anyone has information on the shootings to call 989-759-1248 or 759-1598.
