Man charged with dismembering couple due in court - WNEM TV 5

A 39-year-old house guest charged with killing a suburban Detroit couple who'd been hosting him, dismembering their bodies and dumping them in a river was in court Monday.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says Roger Bowling was arraigned and faces two counts each of first-degree murder, mutilation of a body and having a firearm in a felony. He didn't say anything and was ordered back to jail without bond. No attorney was present.

First-degree murder carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison without parole.

Bowling also is charged with tampering with evidence. Police say they found "copious amounts" of blood in a Detroit-area home where Bowling is accused of fatally shooting the couple and dismembering the bodies.

Two bodies with no feet, heads or hands were found last week in the Detroit River and a nearby canal. The mile-wide river separates Detroit from Windsor, Ontario.

The victims were identified as 42-year-old Chris Hall and his 32-year-old fiancée, Danielle Greenway.

Bowling was Greenway's ex-boyfriend from several years ago. Police arrested him Thursday. 

Greenway's mother, Lila Greenway, yelled, "burn in hell!" as Bowling was escorted out of court in Allen Park.
